Bread for Moldova

1. Dezember 2020 · 3 Min. lesen

The year 2020 brought many changes to our lives. Due to the COVID-19 virus, many people lost their income. Life is filled with fear and worry about what will happen next. In these difficult times, we are very grateful to God that the ministry of the Christian Center "Sarepta" continued. Through the ministry of the Christian nursing home, we continue to care for 50 elderly people, many of whom are bedridden. We are happy that we can help them with their physical and spiritual needs. It is a great joy for us when they turn to God and their entire lives are transformed for the better.

We are also thankful to God that we have not had a single case of the disease during the pandemic. In the 16 years of operation of the nursing home, we have been able to accommodate more than 300 people in need and offer them both physical and spiritual support. The home for people with disabilities also houses young people who rely on wheelchairs. Many of them have been abandoned by their parents and forgotten by society. But God cares for each and every one of them. We are thankful to God for the great changes He has brought into their lives.

The brothers distribute bread to those in need.

A new building is currently under construction to help even more disabled people in need. Due to the many restrictions associated with COVID-19, the children's center's services have been reduced to 50 children per day. These are underprivileged children who come to us after school, receive a free lunch, help with their homework, participate in a children's church service, and receive bread for their families at the end of the day.

Thank God the charity bakery's service continues. Initially, we thought we wouldn't be able to continue this work due to the coronavirus, but the mayor himself asked us to keep going because even more people need bread now than before. We bake about 600 loaves of bread every day this week and distribute them to those in need. More than 100 people in need, mainly elderly or disabled people and children from poor families, come to the bakery window every day to collect bread for their families. Fresh bread is also constantly being baked for the nursing home, the home for people with disabilities, and the children's center. We also distribute bread to those in need in the surrounding villages where new churches have opened.

We are very grateful to Mission Stephanus and all the brothers and sisters who contributed financially during this difficult time to purchase flour for the bakery. Twenty-two tons of flour were procured, enabling us to bake 55,000 loaves of bread. This was a great help to many families in need.
