Kyrgyzstan is a very mountainous country. God's promise also applies there: "I will make all my mountains a level path, and my highways shall be straightened" (Isaiah 49:11).

In the Kyrgyz town of Kyzyl-Kyja, there is a small Christian community. Their gatherings are precious opportunities for the Christians to encourage one another and strengthen their faith. Like many other Christian communities in Islamic countries, this community is plagued by numerous difficulties. The organization Open Doors, which supports persecuted Christians, draws attention to several incidents of Christian persecution in Kyrgyzstan. They report domestic violence, expulsion from villages, and exclusion—even at the funeral of one's own mother. Christians in Kyrgyzstan face many forms of discrimination and persecution. The community leader must always be prepared to pay a high price, even with his own life, for his faith in Jesus.

Unfortunately, the pastor of the church in Kyzyl-Kyja had to return to his hometown to care for his seriously ill mother. In this harsh region, it is difficult to find a shepherd who can care for his flock despite the persecution. God had already prepared a local brother who was willing to move to Kyzyl-Kyja as a missionary, along with his wife and two children. Without hesitation, he followed God's calling and left everything to accept this new ministry. There is hardly any work in Kyzyl-Kyja, and the cost of living is very high. The family needs to be fed and cared for. We want to support this family with a monthly contribution, because in 1 Timothy 2:3-4 it says: "This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."

The name of the city Kyzyl-Kyja literally means Red Path. Each of us leaves a mark on life's journey. We have the opportunity to leave a trail of blessing in Kyrgyzstan through a donation, so that people may hear about Jesus and turn to the living God.

Please pray for the Christians in Kyrgyzstan:

  • Pray for comfort and strong support for Christians who experience persecution and discrimination.
  • Pray for provision for Christians who have lost their livelihoods because of their faith.
  • Thank you for the zeal of many Christians who share God's love in Christ, and I pray that these Christians do not lose heart.
  • Pray for the persecutors, that Jesus awakens a curiosity for the Gospel in their hearts and that many discover Him.
