Once the little great tit has overcome her fear of flying, she is full of exuberance and wants to fly out into the forest alone. But her father holds her back: "You can fly now, but there's still something you need to learn!" And so, father and son fly together through the forest for two days.

On every page of this lovingly illustrated children's book, the reader, along with the two little birds, encounters new forest inhabitants in a wide variety of situations. These encounters reflect everyday moments that children can easily relate to and apply to their own lives. Father Great Tit uses each of these situations to impart interesting facts about the lives of the individual animals to his son, combined with important life lessons from the Bible.

For example: The little squirrel pulls a defiant face. It would rather play than follow its parents' advice and hide nuts as a winter store. "The little squirrel will be hungry in winter when it gets cold and not much grows anymore," remarks Father Great Tit. This chapter concludes with the biblical passage about obedience to parents from Ephesians 6:1–3.

The Bible verses in the short stories are often already familiar to the children. Therefore, the book offers a wonderful opportunity to view these truths from a new perspective and to reintroduce them to the children.
