“God exists! God really exists! […] Could it be possible that it was God who said to me in a dream: You will live!”

During his escape from the German concentration camp Buchenwald, the young Grigori encounters God. At the end of his strength and after a terrible struggle with suffering, he realizes that God has always been with him – even in the darkest hours of his life.

Grigory Zinchenko grew up in a poor family in the former Soviet Union, where he and his people suffered injustice and hardship under the communist regime. When World War II broke out and his village was occupied by the Germans, he was sent to a labor camp in Germany. After a failed escape attempt, he was first imprisoned in Dresden and then transferred to the Buchenwald concentration camp. There, he attempted a second escape.

Grigori vividly and movingly shares details from his life, recounting both the horrors and atrocities of World War II and God's guidance and protection during this difficult time. While this book is not always easy reading, this autobiography is essential for everyone to remember the misery and suffering of those who fell victim to Soviet communism and World War II. It is a testament to God's help in even the most desperate and seemingly hopeless situations.
