A report about the trip to Myanmar
During our mission trip to Myanmar in March 2019, we met a family with 19 children. Seventeen of these children are orphans whom the couple has taken in; only two toddlers are the couple's own children. Thang, the head of the household, is not only a father but also a devout Christian. He preaches and evangelizes with his wife and children.
When we saw the family's living conditions, we immediately felt in our hearts that we had to and wanted to help. The donated money allowed them to buy food and school supplies. However, the situation worsened for the family. In May, Thang received notice to vacate the house where they live. Although the accommodation is in a catastrophic state, unfortunately, finding new housing in Myanmar is not so easy, so they were able to agree on a move-out date of the end of 2020.

Flooding of the house during the rainy season
The house has become far too small for the large number of people. The girls sleep on the ground floor with their mother, while the boys sleep upstairs with Thang. Life mainly takes place in the courtyard. However, since it's the rainy season in summer, the courtyard has turned into a lake. The ground floor was flooded, forcing all the female members of the family to move upstairs and relocate their belongings there, where now all 19 people have to live and sleep together in cramped quarters.
For such a large family, a new house makes the most sense. A suitable plot of land, costing €20,000, has already been found. However, the money for it is lacking. Initially, a house made of bamboo is planned until it's clearer how much money will be available.
