Brother Yun | Brunnen Verlag | 384 pages | €13.00
The book "Heavenly Man" is an incredibly inspiring story. The Chinese boy Yun hears about God through his mother. He eventually converts, but because of the acute persecution of Christians in the country, he has no way of getting a Bible. Nevertheless, he begins to ask God wholeheartedly for one. He fasts for it and puts all his strength into this desire. This devotion is what deeply moved me while reading the book. These days, for many people, God has become a "drawer god," someone they worship at Christmas, Easter, or in times of need. Brother Yun invested all his time in God.
When he miraculously receives a Bible one day, he begins memorizing entire chapters and reciting them to small groups. His evangelism makes him an enemy of the communists, and he is first sought after by the authorities, then imprisoned, and finally tortured. He endures a difficult path, enduring multiple prison sentences. However, he is never alone, because God is always close to him. This story awakens a desire to know Jesus better, more deeply, and more personally. I believe every Christian, and anyone who questions the existence of God, should read this book.
