Dear flood relief workers, prayer partners and donors, dear congregations and friends of missions,
The past years and months have repeatedly reminded us of the following fact: The Lord is near! The images and the horrific extent of the destruction in the flooded area could not leave anyone unmoved. And all of this in the heart of Germany!
Many Christians from all over Germany and abroad contacted us immediately, eager to help. We are still overwhelmed by the great compassion that many congregations have shown towards the people affected by the floods. It seems that the true strength of fellowship is only truly appreciated in times of need.
With this special edition, we would like to report in detail on the work already accomplished, on God's work in the midst of the disaster area, and on our next steps. Our greatest concern in our relief efforts remains the salvation of souls. We firmly believe that only Jesus can give true hope to those affected. This requires courageous people who will continue to provide support on the ground. Please continue to pray for new opportunities to spread the Gospel. "And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you" (Matthew 6:6).
I know that all churches bring the plight of saving lost souls before the Lord. It is precisely in this catastrophe that He gives us the opportunity to share the Gospel with those affected while providing support.
“Do not withhold from doing good to the needy, if your hand is able. Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Go and come again; tomorrow I will give you,’ when you have it” (Proverbs 3:27-28).
Motivated by the word of God, and accompanied by your prayers, we want to continue the work so that God may be glorified even more through all of our lives.
Thankful and united in the Lord,
Michael Akulenko,
CDH-Stephanus
