...in the eyes of people. But how does God see it?

Erich Schmidt-Schell | Seed | 108 pages | €3.50

This paperback tells the gripping and moving life story of Fritz Wächter from Ittenheim near Strasbourg. "You're not worth a drop of water" – this devastating judgment shaped Fritz and accompanied him throughout his life.

Even at a young age, Fritz is confronted with many negative experiences, and his years as an apprentice in a nursery are far from joyful. But then Fritz converts to Jesus Christ, and the adventure begins. The story takes place during the dark times of the Nazi regime, and young Fritz is drafted into the Wehrmacht. As a committed Christian, Fritz must now grapple with numerous problems, injustices, and spiritual struggles, which he overcomes with Jesus' help. Through miraculous guidance and protection, Fritz repeatedly experiences that he is far more valuable in God's eyes than in the eyes of others.

Fritz Wächter's life story deeply moved me. It is admirable how faithfully and trustingly he looked to the Lord, even in the most hopeless situations. His confession of faith in Jesus Christ had so many negative consequences, and yet God always made the best of it for him and those around him. This biography is a wonderful example of how we must never deny our faithfulness to our Lord, for Jesus will reward us and stand by His faithful followers in all of life's circumstances.
