“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you; consider the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith” (Hebrews 13:7). The leaders of CDH Stephanus have taken this commandment to heart. Their conviction: The exemplary lives of our fellow believers must be made accessible to future generations! From this conviction arose the book “Love Compels Us.” Experiences and testimonies from more than 30 years of missionary work were researched and written down. Countless conversations were held with contemporary witnesses, and numerous surviving relatives were interviewed about their memories.
The result is a unique piece of contemporary history. The book traces the history of the mission from its founding by Brother Alexander Konradi, through the selfless service of brothers like Gustav Siebert and Edwin Eggert, to the mission's future plans for how it intends to continue working for the Lord. It recounts many exciting and moving events, from rehabilitation centers in Israel and children's homes in Eastern Europe to the mission in India. It also tells of the tragic truck accident in 1994 in which brothers Eduard Buchmüller and Rubin Firus lost their lives in service to the Lord. All of these brothers and sisters, and many more, have been teachers, shepherds, and role models, and their lives, even after their passing into eternity, clearly point to Christ.
This book truly calls you to action. It practically compels me to get moving and lend a hand in the Lord's vineyard. If you're looking for renewed spiritual growth or simply need more motivation to take action, then I wholeheartedly recommend this book. May it give you new spiritual inspiration and renewed strength to serve the Lord even more zealously than you have before.
