Under the motto “Rather store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal!” (Mt 6:20), the 30th Missions Conference took place on June 12, 2021.
However, due to the current situation, this conference was held virtually.
This format presented a significant challenge for us. A team of ten people handled the technical implementation. After a test stream in the mission building, the decision was made to hold the conference in the premises of the Speyer church. The online format certainly posed a challenge for some viewers as well. Nevertheless, approximately 300 devices were connected at any given time. So far, about 1600 devices have accessed the stream. Of course, it's impossible to say how many people participated in total. However, we have received reports from churches and numerous groups who watched the conference together.
Approximately 60 people were present on the day of the conference, including staff, bishops, musicians and the technical team.
For the first time, the conference took place without international guests. Nevertheless, it was possible to hear and see reports from abroad about the aid provided. For those who did not understand the language, the captions with translations were helpful.
Furthermore, the district associations of Trossingen, Bremen, and Venne reported on their work. All mentioned that the pandemic had changed and complicated their work. However, thanks to God's help, numerous projects were still able to be realized and many people were helped.
Many of the preachers pointed out that this work was God's work, which could be accomplished through the hands of the congregation.
