The book "The Pilgrim's Journey" has been read and valued by many Christians for centuries. However, relatively little is generally known about its author, John Bunyan. This book offers the opportunity to learn how God equipped His instrument and enabled him to be a blessing to many.

It was not John Bunyan's intention to create a monument to his life with a book. Rather, he wished to serve the edification of his congregation, for whom he cared despite his imprisonment. He himself describes his writing in his vivid language as follows: "With what follows, I send you a drop of honey that I have taken from the lion's body." Roaring lions appear throughout the book. In their endeavor to corrupt both body and soul, they are ultimately struck down by the merciful God's sword of the Spirit.

Even though the book's writing style and vocabulary take some getting used to, those who engage with it can glean many valuable lessons for their own lives. That is my personal experience with the book. Truly, it is yet another testament to how God glorifies Himself in weakness, because all glory belongs to Him.
