Flood disaster: Those affected in Ahrbrück say THANK YOU

We provided financial support to several families, including the Joa and Huth families, with several thousand euros. The Wolff family not only received financial assistance – our volunteers also carried out various tasks, such as electrical work, screed laying, and plastering. Flooring was also installed.

A gift from heaven – a thank you from the Wolff family

Dear Stephanus congregation,

My name is Rüdiger Wolff, and I live with my family in the beautiful Ahr Valley, but unfortunately, on July 14, 2021, we were struck by an unimaginable and never-before-seen flood. Almost our entire house was so badly damaged that we could never have rebuilt it without outside help. We felt like a godsend when we met the Stephanus Parish by chance, and they have been supporting us so far and will hopefully continue to do so for some time to come as we rebuild. My family and I are incredibly grateful for this great kindness and humanity and wish you all the best and much strength for the future.

Doris Joa, whom we financially supported, reports on her construction progress:

[…] Things are progressing in leaps and bounds. And it's true that people are still very motivated to help us so we can move back into our little house soon. We have many helpers and experts lending us a hand. How it will all work out financially remains to be seen. Without our helpers and especially without your donations, we would be completely lost and desperate. A lot of work still needs to be done and completed. But we expect to be able to live on the ground floor again by the end of the year at the very latest, if everything continues as planned.

This is all an update to show that progress is being made and the successes of the aid are visible. We are hoping for the promised government support to make everything a reality. A heartfelt thank you from the Huth family

Ladies and Gentlemen

My family and I were severely affected by the flood. Unfortunately, we don't have natural disaster insurance and therefore have to manage the rebuilding on our own. We thank God for the help we received from CDH-Stephanus. Not only the financial assistance and help with the electrical work made us incredibly grateful, but the supportive conversations were also very comforting and gave us strength. A heartfelt thank you from the whole family for all the help.
